Life in Sunnyvale - Cycling to San Francisco

I plan to leave hotel and go San Francisco at 08:00 AM, but... I get up too late. So, actually, I leave hotel at 09:30 AM.

It’s great to see this sign. That means I’m near by the Stanford University. Because go straight on with University Rd., you can go directly into Stanford University.

Compare this Caltrain station and the MRT in Taiwan, this one is not so impressive. But, it make me feel leisurely and peaceful...

2008-08-02 12:31:16 繞過來一看，車站更大！其實BART才是舊金山的捷運，Caltrain是種像車子的火車，教踏車也可以上去喔，當然，BART更是可以上腳踏車，美國其實是騎腳踏車的天堂啊
I’m now at the nearest BART station from the hotel I stay. I think BART is the real MRT in San Francisco. Unlike Cartrain, the station of BART is much bigger. Of course, it can bring bicycle with you to take both Caltrain and BART. It’s really heaven for cycler here in US.

Its’ a long long down hill route. But, it won’t cheer me up. It means I have to climb a far distance of up hill when I go home ……

2008-08-02 13:18:01 舊金山的Muni公車，前面那個鐵架是放腳踏車用的，後面長長的桿子是導電用的喔！是的，這就是舊金山著名的電動公車啦，不過好大台喔，教踏車騎在他旁邊還蠻有壓迫感的，不過！就算是騎在他前面，司機也不會按喇叭喔！
Muni bus of SFO, you can put you bicycle on the rack in front of bus. This bus is famous for powered by electricity. Well, this bus looks really huge. There is much pressure to bike beside it. But, the driver of the bus is very politely. They won't horn you even though you cyling in front of the bus.

2008-08-02 13:19:00 到了！到達我原本行程中的第一站Mission St. 和 30th St.的交叉口，松山高中的學弟就住這附近，可惜他有事去學校了～只好下次在喝咖啡囉！到這裡已經騎了超過60公里了...
Here use to be my first stop form my trip to SFO, the cross of Misson St. and 30th St. A friend of mine live here. But, it's a pity that he need to go to school this afternoon. Maybe we can have a cup of coffee next time. The distance from here to hotel is over 60 km already.

The painting on the wall is very cool. But, I really have no idea what this place will be. Can't it be the place where terrorist gathered ?! Looks like the people in it is all Arabian or near by that area. Better get going...

This is a Thailand ? Vietnam ? Arabian ? store ? I really can read those "word" on the glass. But the scooters in front of the store are very cute. I'm doubted that these motorcycle are all coming from Tailand. According to the physique of American, these motorcycles seem very easy to be squelched....

2008-08-02 13:44:22 原本是聽到非常醉人的爵士樂才繞過去看看的，沒想到在這個High翻了的搖滾樂團前駐足一下下的時間，爵士樂團收工了～殘念....不過老美好像很喜歡這種露天的樂團，所有圍觀人都很High呢...這個band的水準也不差喔！很想上去Jam一下...
I come here because of the beautiful Jazz Music. But, the atmosphere here around this Rock band seems more higher. So, I stay here for awhile, enjoy this high music. And, it's really a pity that when I go to the Jazz band next this Rock band later. The Jazz band has finished their performance.... But, looks like people in America really enjoy this kind of outdoor performance. Everyone is really enjoy in it. This band is Great ! How I wish I can Jam with them ^^

2008-08-02 13:50:44 這裡應該離Union Square不遠吧，商業區的附近有個大草皮也真是蠻不錯的！這樣也可以搞個festival～美國真是個懂得休閒的國家
This place is very close to Union Square. To have a big grassplot near by commercial centre is very nice. Here seems to have a gardens festival. People in America really know about relax.

2008-08-02 13:56:40 公車總站！嗯～跟ZTW旁邊那個公車總站比起來，這個看起來舒服多了...是吧，看起來並不華麗，但也不失乾淨清潔，不過，公車真是超大台的...
This is where all buses Start and Park. There is also one near by ZTW office. But, this one in SFO looks more conformable and clean. And this bus is really Big.

This is Bay Bridge. Last time we came here, the weather was bad, so we can't see this bridge very clearly.

Oh my God ! Someone boating there. These guys feel like very easy to drop in the water by the big waves. Although the weather today is pretty good, the wind is very strong along the pier. Ouch ! I forgot to take a picture for the sea lion. What a pity....

2008-08-02 14:29:32 原來漁人碼頭在過來一些有個小沙灘可以下去玩水耶，不過上次來的那種天氣(16度)，我可是絕對不會想下去玩水的啦....
Now I know that there is a small sandy beach near pier 39. But, I don't think we can enjoy the beach last time we're here. The temperature that day was 60 degree Fahrenheit.

Look at the great view of SFO city from pier 45. It really feel nice to live here in SFO when the weathre is great.

Now the Colden Gate Bridge is closer and closer. But, the wind blow is stronger and stronger.

The wind is so strong that I can only get a little bit closer to Golden Gate Bridge after 10 min.

2008-08-02 14:55:05 到了Fort Point了！橋的底下....那要怎麼騎上去咧....有種被觀光地圖騙了的感覺....仔細再找找，嗯～我騎過頭了，原來剛剛那個看起來很要命的上坡，真的是腳踏車騎上橋的引道....又是上坡....此時墊腳尖拍照的時候，又小腿微微的抽筋了...到極限了嗎？
Now I'm at Fort Point, below Golden Gate Bridge. How can I go up to the bridge ? Feel like I'm fooling by the Bike Tour Map.... WELL,  double check the map, I go with wrong way. The way up to the bridge is behind me.... But, the route seems not really for biking.. it's a 15% hill. When I stop for taking picture, I feel like my shank clonus.... I probably need to take a rest....

2008-08-02 15:02:07 奮力的騎上來了！很多人對我豎起大拇指...拜託～這跟風櫃嘴比起來算小意思吧...但～還真是有點累呢...哈哈～坐在腳踏車上似乎都會不自覺的把水平線抓歪了...唉～別高興的太早～此時突然發現，剛剛那個上坡只是第一段，後面還有一段呢！觀光地圖上寫著incline/Hill，我覺得是insane hill才對吧...
Wow, I climb up the hill. Many ppl. show me their thumb for my climb. But, I think, the hill I climb so far is a pice of cake if compare to the hill I climbed in Taiwan called Feng-Gui-Zui. Honestly to say, it's really feel a little bit tired. But, it's not over. There is another hill in front of me. "Incline/Hill" wrote in the Bike Tour Map, but I feel like insane hill....

2008-08-02 15:05:15 看到這牌子有點傻眼...怎麼教踏車只有星期一到五可以過咧？花了五分鐘研究這牌子，還真複雜，總之是不能過了....
Looks at this sign, it shocks me a while. Why bike can go through Golden Gate Bridge only on Mon. to Fri. ? It takes me 5 min. to study this complicated sign. BTW, I seem can't go through Golden Gate Bridge from here...

While I feeling upset for can't go through Golden Gate Bridge, I find out there are many bikes at the opposite line of the bridge. Now I see, people and bikes are separated with different line. How sweet it is !

2008-08-02 15:11:04 哈哈哈～我在金門大橋上耶！免收過路費喔！不過橋上不騎車的時候還真冷....風景呢！真的不是這種普通的傻瓜相機拍的出他的美的...美到一個不行啊！很抱歉囉～我可沒有背著DSLR到處騎腳踏車的雄心壯志！這美麗的美景，只好留在我的腦海中啦...
Hahahaha~Now I'm on the Golden Gate Bridge, and I don't have to pay the fee. It's really cold to stay on the bridge. But, the great sight here.... it's not what a consumer DSC can capture. I think, even DSLR can't make it. So, I can only  keep what I see in my mind, what a beautiful sight....

2008-08-02 15:16:33 橋上的自行車道、也是人行道，看起來是蠻安全舒適的，剛剛的那些牌子的文字就是要人車分道用的啦，所有的行人都在另一邊...
The bike line and the pedestrian line on the bridge are quite safe and comfortable. The earlier sign in front of the entry of bike line and pedestrain line is to tell everybody Go The Right Way, than everybody will be safe.

There is a long stair for going down under-bridge. Some ppl. carry their bike down.. For me ? Not even think about it !!

2008-08-02 15:27:11 這裡的海岸線真特殊，有沙灘也有岩岸，可海釣、也可是海水浴場～下面真有個人在釣魚喔！
The seacoast here is very special for me. It has rocky coast for fishing and also sandy coast for water sport. There is one man fishing down there.

Now I'm far away from Golden Gate Bridge. Compare with the Guan-Du bridge in Taiwan(looks like a little bit like Golden Gate Bridge), Golden Gate Bridge is really something big.

2008-08-02 15:58:31 連綿不絕的上坡，真累～好像睡覺～這裡是Golf球場喔，剛剛才被一個帶著公雞帽(一整隻的公雞喔)的傢伙鼓舞硬是衝了一下下，因為他要開Golf球場車過馬路啦，雖然是變相的喇叭，但還是讓人覺得舒服......什麼～一個騎公路車的傢伙站著抽車上山去了！還跟我喊了聲加油....嗯～長痛不如短痛吧...
Continuously up hill, I'm so tired that I'm expecting where I can find a bed to sleep. Here I am is a Golf Club. A golf guy wear a Chicken Helmet(it looks like a chicken sitting on his head ^^a) cheer me up for my hill climbing, so I push myself to keep on cycling. Although it's because the golf guy want to go across the road with the small golf car he drive, it's still sweet for cheering me up.... What ! A cyclist bike with stand up position passing me by and say "Come on !" to me !!! Well.... what can I say. Keep going....
